At The Brixton Practice, we are committed to making psychotherapy as accessible as possible. We understand that the cost of private healthcare can be a significant barrier, so our Low-Cost Therapy Service offers sessions at a reduced rate for anyone who may otherwise be unable to access support.

This service is provided by student trainee therapists who are completing a long-term placement with us - similar to working with a trainee doctor or nurse. Trainees are carefully selected, thoroughly vetted, and closely supervised by our Clinical Director, Nathan Claxton, alongside their accredited training institutions. Our trainee therapists are at different stages of their training, and the fee band reflects their experience - including how many client hours they have completed so far.

To request a low-cost assessment, please book onto one of the available slots in the diary below and fill out the information required. Once your assessment is completed, in most cases we will assign you to one of our low-cost therapists. You can read more about your assigned therapist below. In some cases, we will signpost you to other services we think will better meet your current needs.

The Brixton Practice encourages a radically relational approach to counselling and psychotherapy. Our Clinical Director - Nathan Claxton - is committed to this approach when supervising trainee therapists. He supports them in developing radically relational ethics in their therapy practice. Our trainee therapists have regular group supervision, as well as one-to-one support with Nathan. Nurturing a collaborative approach, their life skills and expertise are valued and respected. Our trainee therapists are committed and supported to working with clients holistically - a relational approach to therapy. All of our trainees are members of professional and approved governing bodies, predominantly UKCP or BACP.
