Aria Sakellariou
TRAINEE AT THE GESTALT CENTRE LONDON
Background
I’m originally from Greece, and my interest in psychotherapy has always come from a deep curiosity about people and how they experience their lives. I have a background in psychology, which gave me a strong foundation, but what has always mattered most to me is how we feel, connect, and make meaning in our relationships.
What excites me about life is real contact. Moments of honesty, awareness, and connection with others. I’m especially interested in how culture, personal history, and relationships shape who we are and how we show up in the world.
I decided to become a psychotherapist because I believe healing happens through relationship. Therapy, for me, is a shared space where curiosity, presence, and compassion allow people to better understand themselves and move toward change in a way that feels authentic and alive. This work feels deeply human and meaningful to me.
Training goals
My training is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy, and I’m especially interested in relational and experiential work that focuses on awareness, presence, and the therapeutic relationship. I’m open to working with a diverse range of people and feel particularly interested in adults navigating transitions, relationships, and emotional difficulties. I’m also mindful of how cultural background and lived experience shape a person’s way of being, and I value working in a way that is respectful, collaborative and inclusive. From this placement, I hope to deepen my clinical skills, and to grow both professionally and personally through this experience.
