HUMANISITC COUNSELLOR

APPROACH AND BACKGROUND

I am a humanistic counsellor with an interest in people and what makes us individually unique. I work with what you want to explore, looking at what is happening now and how the past may be impacting this. Some people come for counselling feeling confused or not understanding themselves. Noticing patterns or cycles in their behaviour but not understanding how the cycle keeps repeating. For others it may be noticing how others view them and not feeling understood, heard or seen by them.

If you are questioning your sexuality, gender or identity I offer a safe, accepting space to explore these thoughts and any feelings attached. I provide a LGTBQIA+ affirmative practice .

Having worked in the health setting and more recently a cancer setting, I understand the impact of how disease and treatments (including drugs) can affect the body both physically and emotionally. I offer a safe space to explore these changes in the session.

Training, qualifications, and experience

I have been working with clients in a range of settings. I volunteered at St Christopher’s in a bereavement setting for 3 years. I also volunteered at a LGTBQIA+ charity for 2 years and a low-cost counselling charity, working with parents.

I have worked in a primary health care setting for many years working with many different health issues. In the last 10 years my work in this setting was predominantly in a cancer setting.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework.
