Humanistic counsellor

Approach and background

I am a humanistic counsellor, meaning I will work alongside you to explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours, and to understand better why you react to situations in the way that you do.  My approach is fundamentally optimistic and non-judgemental, helping you to harness your own resources and strengths and empowering you to manage and work through the issues you face.

If you are feeling depressed or anxious, struggling to connect with others or even yourself, then we will navigate these issues together. As a BACP-registered counsellor, I will help you to change the way you respond to these issues. Together we will come to understand your difficult feelings in new ways, uncovering the inherent wisdom within them.

I know that counselling can be an intimidating experience, especially if you’re not sure where to start. We will tailor how we work together in order that we create a space which you can experience as safe and secure. This will provide the opportunity to engage with and reflect on your experience in greater depth.

Training, qualifications, and experience

I have been working with clients for four years, helping them to discover and unpick what matters most to them.

I have a specialism working with LGBT+ clients, including two years’ counselling at ELOP in Walthamstow. This includes working with many clients who have struggled to feel understood by previous therapists regarding their sexuality and gender.

I have a BSc in Humanistic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute and I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), whose code of ethics I work to.

Previously I worked as a journalist and in charity comms, as well as spending a period working in the comedy industry (not, I should note, as a comedian).
