Mei Lin Inkster
INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Approach and background
I am an integrative psychotherapist drawing on a variety of modalities to best suit your needs. Primarily, I work relationally through our therapeutic relationship to explore your interpersonal relationships. I also have a particular interest in the Jungian approach, working with archetypes, dreams and symbols to gain a deeper insight into the psyche.
Mixed and multi-racial heritage is the fastest growing demographic in the UK but remains largely underrepresented in all fields. Identity and belonging are fundamental to our sense of safety and feeling understood, but this becomes challenging in the context of discrimination or rejection from family or the community.
Growing up in another country or in a place where we have to learn and adjust to other social, linguistic, and cultural references is immensely beneficial, allowing us to adapt quickly in new environments, but it can also leave us feeling alienated and disconnected, wondering where home really is – belonging everywhere and nowhere.
Training, qualifications, and experience
Over the past four years I have worked with NHS Talking Therapies, during which time I helped set up and work within several low-cost counselling services.
I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of presenting issues, including questions of identity and belonging, sexuality, neurodivergence, relationships.
Prior to this, I spent over a decade working in the civil service in the UK and Europe.
Primary qualifications
MSc in Therapeutic Counselling at the University of Greenwich
