Emma Futcher
TA PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR
Approach and background
Seeking therapy can feel like a daunting step. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive space where we can explore whatever has brought you to therapy, at your own pace. You may be feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed and perhaps unsure why. I aim to work empathically and reflectively, collaborating with you to explore what may be holding you back in your life or relationships.
My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA). A core principle that I hold closely is the concept of ‘life scripts’ — unconscious beliefs and decisions created during childhood that can continue to influence how we think, feel, and relate as adults, out of our awareness. It’s what first drew me to this modality.
Therapy has helped me to understand myself more fully and to take positive, meaningful steps in my life. This personal experience informs my work and deepens my respect for the courage it takes to seek support.
Together, with curiosity and compassion, I believe we can begin to make sense of these recurring patterns, emotional struggles, and challenges that impact your wellbeing and deny you your autonomy. By bringing them into awareness, we can begin to question them and create new, more empowering ways of being.
