PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPIST

Approach and background

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to managing things on your own or aren’t sure what you’d even say if you started. You might be coming with a specific difficulty, or with a quieter sense that something in your life, relationships, or inner world doesn’t feel quite right. Many people I work with feel stuck, emotionally disconnected, or caught in patterns they don’t fully understand, even when things look “fine” on the surface.

I offer a warm, grounded, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to explore these experiences at your own pace. My work is relational and psychodynamic, which means I’m interested in how earlier relationships and life experiences continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others today. Often, patterns that once helped us cope or survive can linger long after they’re needed, leaving us feeling conflicted, self-critical, or disconnected.

In our work together, I pay attention not only to what’s spoken, but also to what emerges between us, including silences, emotional shifts, and repeated themes. These moments often hold important information about how you experience closeness, difference, dependency, or safety. Therapy can become a gradual process of developing curiosity about yourself and making room for feelings or parts of you that may have been ignored, pushed aside, or felt too difficult to hold alone.

I aim to create a space where your whole self is welcome, including the parts that feel uncertain, conflicted, or painful. Rather than rushing towards solutions, we take time to understand what these experiences might be communicating, allowing for deeper and more lasting change to emerge.

My work is informed by an awareness of culture, identity, and representation, shaped in part by my own African heritage. I recognise how race, faith, belonging, and intergenerational experiences can influence how we move through the world and how safe it feels to be seen. I welcome these themes into the therapeutic space, along with attention to how similarities and differences between us may become meaningful within the relationship itself.

You may be struggling with shame or self-criticism, questions of identity or belonging, anxiety, low mood, or the emotional impact of life transitions. Whatever you’re bringing, we can begin to make sense of it together, thoughtfully, compassionately, and at a pace that feels right for you.

Training, qualifications, and experience

I am a qualified Psychodynamic Therapist (MBACP) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), adhering to their ethical framework in all areas of my practice. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake training to deepen and expand my clinical skills.

Before training as a therapist, I worked across a range of mental health and support services, supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs. These experiences strengthened my understanding of safeguarding, risk, and the importance of trauma-informed, compassionate care.
