Eleanor Brown
Trainee at Metanoia Institute
Background
I am undertaking my MSc at Metanoia Institute in West London. I have trained to date at Birkbeck University (Psychodynamic) and The Awareness Centre (Person-Centred) and my work now is to develop my Integrative practice and skill set.
I have worked in the private sector in HR and finance roles. I am a dual national, growing up between North America and the UK. I also spent time living in Asia.
It is a courageous and often unsettling step to undertake therapy and to share your feelings with someone who is in essence a complete stranger.
I take a supportive, open-minded, flexible approach and we work together at your pace, with therapy your space to explore and share as you wish. I hold hope for you, even at times where it may feel confusing, painful and meaningless.
Training goals
I am training in Integrative Psychotherapy which means I operate in an adaptive and creative way with clients.
I am drawn to work which explores the connection between the body and trauma and how non-verbal feelings and responses can be influencing our lived realities. I ascribe to radical acceptance of anything that you bring and share. I believe the more individuals try to force themselves to change, improve and grow, the more things will stay stuck and the same and therefore work in a collaborative way to explore and uncover things at your pace.
Areas that I can support you with (but are not limited to): exploring loss of direction, workplace stress, complex family dynamics, identity, relationship breakdown.
Membership
I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) whose code of ethics I abide by.
