Charlotte Riddington
Approach and background
We all need someone to talk to sometimes. Whether you are feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, therapy offers a confidential and supportive space away from the demands of everyday life.
My priority as a therapist is to create a safe, non-judgemental environment where clients not only feel heard but also empowered to better understand their own experiences and take control of their lives. Rather than offering advice, I focus on fostering autonomy – helping you access your own inner strength and trust in your abilities. My role is to guide you in untangling the emotional knots that may be holding you back.
My approach is integrative, meaning I use multiple approaches (including psychodynamic, person-centred, and cognitive) tailored to what works best for you. I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important factor in the healing process, providing a space to explore how you relate to others. My aim is to build a secure therapeutic alliance in which we can work together meaningfully, to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, promote your personal growth, and reach your goals.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for professional practice.
Training, qualifications, and experience
I trained at Greenwich University, where I gained my MSc in Therapeutic Counselling. I also have a BSc in Psychology from the University of the West of England.
I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics in my practice. I undertake regular professional development training, to ensure that I am continuing to keep my skills and knowledge up to date.
Prior to training as a therapist, I worked in a variety of mental health services including support for domestic abuse, homelessness, and community groups.
Availability, fees, and contact details
My fee is £60 for a 50-minute session. I work in-person at The Brixton Practice on Tuesdays. Please contact me to find out my current availability.
I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation where you can ask any questions and decide if we might be a good fit. In our first session, we’ll explore what’s brought you to therapy and assess how we can work together moving forward.
I offer both short-term and open-ended counselling for adults.
